I FEP Internship - A note from Abhaya

Hi I year FEPites here is a note from Abhaya.
  • the internship diaries are over; so do not pay at the office and come with a receipt for the diaries. maintain a 50 page book as your diary. write the daily activities, date, and get it signed by your mentor in the organization; do not forget this task; you may not be able to remember everything you did during your internship
  • show interest in work and get some work; this is the time when you get your contacts and test your own ability to work with professionals
  • do not forget to get appendix; if you are unable to get some evidence contact your guide, so that alternatives could be worked out before you finish your internship and return empty handed and land in trouble
  • mail your guides once a week; it would be easy for them to suggest things if you are in contact regularly; regular contact with the guide has 5% marks

Enjoy your internship. Come back with fresh ideas and enthusiasm.

hi ma'm.
just wanted to know how important is it to have a byline or having your article published? is it neccessary or is it ok if i don't manage to get any? does it have a role in determining how many marks i would get?

Abhaya said...

tavishi published articles, bylines will indicate your involvement and seriousness, your ability to grow within organisation. but it is also true that all organisations will not give interns opportunity to publish. that excuse should not stop you from working seriously. because, the lack of involvement will be visible in the report. quality of your report determines your marks. quality of work determines your quality of your report. abhaya

Our mentors do not care to reply to any of our mails. In this case if we are not awarded the 5% marks, it will be unfair towards us students. I hope this problem is soon looked into.

does anyone have any idea about how many bylines should one manage to get?

Akshay dont worry about mentors not replying. I will request them to reply to these mails. Sometimes we too need a real break from all these tasks.

5% marks will be awarded if you are in touch with your guide.

There is no hard and fast rules about how many bylines you should get. As i told Tavishi, your work will speak for itself, even if you dont get bylines.

Since many lectures have gone to their native place and do not easy access to the internet they may not be able to respond. Do explain your work and constraints to the mentor concerned when the university reopens. All the best for the new academic year.
